World Book Day 2022

On Thursday 3rd March, we will be celebrating World Book Day and we would like our children to come to school on that day, dressed as their favourite storybook character.
I ask that you don’t go out and purchase anything new. Some of the best costumes we have seen, have been homemade or fashioned together from bits and bobs at home. If you are stuck for ideas here are a few to help you along:
Normal clothes + bucket + toy dinosaurs
2. Charlie Bucket – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
Normal clothes + golden ticket + chocolate bar
3. Sophie – Sophie’s Adventures by Dick King-Smith
Normal clothes + wellies + (toy) snail
4. ‘Boy’ – The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg
Yellow PJs + blue dressing gown
5. Wendy – Peter Pan by J M Barrie
Light blue nightie
6. Puck – A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare
Green/brown top + shorts + tights + wreath of leaves
7. Angelina Ballerina – Angelina Ballerina by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig
Pink tutu + pink ballet shoes + mouse ears + bow + flower decoration
Brown clothes + (ideally big) white/brown wings
8. Tom – Beast Quest by Adam Blade
Brown clothes + boots + plastic shield + sword
9. Sophie – The BFG by Roald Dahl
Pink nightie + jar (of dreams)
10. Oliver – Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
T-shirt + brown waistcoat + three-quarter-length trousers + peaked cap + plastic bowl + scarf (optional)
11. Mary – The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
White dress + red tam beret + black coat + purple scarf + hair ribbons + old-looking key
12. Anne – Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Light shirt + blue or white tunic + straw hat + hair in pigtails + (optional) old-fashioned bag/suitcase
Any football kit
We hope these have helped provide you with a few ideas and the internet is full of many more!
World Book Day is a chance for the children to dress up and celebrate their love of reading. We can’t wait to see them all dressed up.
Yours Sincerely
