Year 4

Mr O'Neill - Year 4 Class Teacher

I am Mr O'Neill. This is my first year of teaching at Kingston Park Academy since I qualified as a teacher within the Delta.  In Year 4 we learn and we laugh.
We share a conscientious attitude to each others learning, discovering and formulating as we go. It is a pleasure to teach. Passion and pride is shown in everything we do, whether it be a spelling test on a Friday or creating a Viking helmet from papier-mâché .  When not at school I enjoy going on holiday and experiencing different places. My hobbies include football, skiing and sailing.

Topics

This term our topic is about.....

'Potions'

Potion: a poison, a mixture, an aromatic brew, a vapour, a liquid or sticky goo.

This half term our topic is Potions, so welcome to the magical world of potions and their properties.

Now scientists, beware! There are some powerful and deadly potions out there – dangerous, unpredictable or plain tragic.   Use what we know about materials and their properties to create incredible potions in Professor Hazards Potions class!

Other topics we have covered this year are......

‘Road Trip USA’

Buckle up, sunglasses on – we’re going on a road trip across the good old US of A!.

This half term our topic is Road Trip USA, so let’s explore! We will be researching the states of the USA to identify all the different features.

Flying from London Gatwick, and landing at JFK airport New York, it’s time to explore the sights and sounds of the Big Apple. In Maths we will be comparing fractions and using plane timetables to understand decimal places.
It’s going to be a long ride, put the roof down and let the wind blow through your hair – we’re off!

'The Blue Abyss'

Grab your wetsuit! We’re going deep into an underwater world of incredible coral and mysterious sea creatures.

Can you pick a favourite fish, plant or animal? Create ‘Top Tumps’ of the different creatures.
Flippers on? Snorkel ready? Let’s head into the blue abyss…

'Traders and Raiders'

Sail back to the Dark Ages, where battles were rife and fear reigned!

For our topic this half term we will meet bloodthirsty Vikings from Scandinavia and find out about the life of the Saxons.

We will be trading our crafty goods. But let’s keep out cool – we don’t want a fight breaking out between the Vikings and Saxons!

Let’s wave our battle axes and begin to invade the British shores
